How stories are produced
Launch schedules, launch results, filing alerts, FAA airspace notices and Starlink figures are written by software directly from published data: Launch Library 2 for launches and boosters, SEC EDGAR for SpaceX’s filings, the FAA for flight restrictions and CelesTrak for Starlink orbital data. Every figure in these updates comes straight from the source record.
Some stories, such as summaries of SEC filings, are drafted with AI from the source document. Each sentence in a draft is checked against the passage of the filing it relies on, and the editor reviews and approves the story before it is published. Stories drafted this way say so above the text.
